RecNation Rental’s Fleet Matchmaking Program, is a service designed for RV rental fleet operators looking to grow their rental business by matching them with RV owners who want to rent their RV without the hassle. This article provides details about how this program works, step-by-step.
Requirements to join:
- To be eligible for our matchmaking services, fleets must be stored at our RecNation Storage facility. Then you can be paired up with one of our RV owners who wants to consign their RV.
- If you don’t want to store at RecNation, you can still list your RVs on our marketplace!
- RV Owners/rental fleet operators must maintain RV insurance at all times while in the rental program, understanding that renters will pay for damage to the vehicle while its being rented.
- RVs have to be 20 years or newer to qualify for the service and renter’s insurance.
- Has safe and operational tires (no more than 5 years old)
- Undergoes regular maintenance (oil changes, tire replacements) – each rental fleet operator needs to discuss with the owner which maintenance items will be handled by them.
- RV is in good working order (fridge, stove, air conditioners, furnace, doors, cabinets, etc.).
Steps to Become a Rental Fleet Operator:
- Onboard RV: To start, you’ll need to register your RV with RecNation Rental’s Fleet Matchmaking Service. A team member will review your RV to ensure it meets the onboarding requirements and quality standards.
- Move into RecNation Storage: Once your RVs are approved, our team will work with you to find discounted storage that fits your entire fleet. You can operate your entire rental business from the storage facility. Storage facilities come equipped with electricity, water, and some have onsite dump stations.
- Join Slack Channel: To see/accept rental bookings and communicate with other RV owners, join our Slack channel. Instructions on how to do this are sent in the intro email you received upon joining.
- Setup ACH: To receive payout for each rental, you will need to setup ACH direct deposit with our team. To do this, please contact our customer support line at: 972-512-0632
- Match with RV Owners: Once moved into storage, RecNation Rental will match you with RV owners in your area who want to rent out their RV without the hassle. Bonus: The RV owner pays for their own storage, so this is no cost to the rental fleet operator! At this time, you will schedule a meeting with the RV Owner to discuss how your business operates, what is expected from them, and what the rental business and the owner handle.
- Rental Booking: When someone rents an RV, the rental fleet operator takes care of everything from start to finish. This includes handling all customer inquiries, completing the booking process, handling insurance coverage, preparing the RV for pickup, and cleaning it after each rental. In this step, it is imperative that both the rental fleet operator and the renter take before and after photos and submit them to the pre/post departure forms 24 hours prior/post the rental. This is crucial for the RV to be fully insured during the rental.
- Payout: After each rental, you will receive a direct deposit in your bank account. The rental fleet operator will pay their RV owners each month based on the rentals that were booked (payout frequency may change depending on rental fleet operator) minus their service fee. The standard commission for a fleet consignment operator is 50% for their services.
Other Important Information to discuss with RV owners:
RV Maintenance
- The rental fleet operator must disclose how they handle RV maintenance to the RV owner. This includes things such as winterization, engine maintenance, oil changes, tire pressure checks, and maintenance of appliance such as AC units, water heater, etc..
Commission
- The rental fleet operator must disclose their percentage commission that they take for operating the consignment service. This commission must not be more than 50% of the rental.
Renter Usage:
- While renters will use your RV, they are responsible for any damages incurred during the rental period. It is their responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as they received it or they may pay penalties or for damages.
Renter Security and Background Checks:
- Renters must leave a security deposit to cover potential insurance deductibles and undergo a background check before receiving the RV keys.
What if an Accident Happens?
- Security Measures: Renters must leave a security deposit to cover the insurance deductible and undergo a background check before key handoff.
- Insurance Coverage: Each reservation includes insurance paid by the renter at checkout, covering up to the value of your RV.
